How do you feel?
On October 9, 2026, Giselle unexpectedly withdrew from aespa's concert in Seattle, Washington, after her condition deteriorated following the opening performance. The remaining three members—Karina, Winter, and Ningning—continued the concert without her.
Shortly afterward, SM Entertainment explained the circumstances surrounding Giselle's departure and reassured fans that her recovery would be prioritized.
According to SM Entertainment, Giselle began experiencing cold symptoms on the morning of October 9, hours before aespa's scheduled performance. The singer received medical attention and treatment earlier that day. After her symptoms appeared to improve, she decided to proceed with the concert as planned.
However, her condition worsened significantly after the opening performance. Following discussions between the medical team and staff at the venue, it was determined that Giselle should withdraw from the remainder of the concert and its associated fan events. Although she had initially hoped to perform alongside her fellow members, the decision was made to prioritize her health and recovery.
SM Entertainment Releases Official Statement on Giselle's Health
SM Entertainment addressed the situation in an English-language announcement shortly after Giselle left the stage. The statement confirmed that Giselle would not participate in the rest of the Seattle show, including the scheduled Hi-Bye and Send-Off events.
SM Entertainment also apologized to fans who had attended the concert expecting to see all four members. The agency emphasized its commitment to supporting Giselle's recovery, stating:
"We will do everything we can to ensure that Giselle receives the rest and care she needs to make a full recovery."
Despite Giselle's unexpected departure, aespa's Seattle concert continued with Karina, Winter, and Ningning. The three members completed the remaining performances and participated in the scheduled post-concert fan activities. These included the Hi-Bye and Send-Off events, which allow participating fans to interact with the artists following the concert.
SM Entertainment confirmed that these activities would proceed with the remaining three members rather than being canceled entirely.
The company thanked fans for their understanding and continued support.
We wish Giselle a full and speedy recovery and hope to see all four aespa members performing together again soon.
