sophia katseye hiatus update

KATSEYE member Sophia is officially set to return to group activities in January 2027 after taking an extended break to focus on her mental health and overall well-being.

On October 9 (Korean time), HYBE x Geffen Records (HxG) shared an official announcement confirming that Sophia will resume activities with KATSEYE during the first week of January 2027. However, the singer will remain absent from the group's remaining performances and promotional schedules throughout 2026, including the North American leg of THE WILDWORLD TOUR.

The announcement provides a clearer timeline for Sophia's return following months of uncertainty surrounding her participation in the group's activities.

Sophia's Hiatus Began in August 2026

Sophia initially stepped away from KATSEYE's activities in August 2026 to prioritize her mental health and wellness. At the time, HYBE x Geffen explained that the decision was made to give the singer the time and space necessary to focus on her recovery.

Her hiatus subsequently extended into the European leg of KATSEYE's THE WILDWORLD TOUR, with the agency confirming that she would not participate in those performances.

Although fans had hoped Sophia might rejoin the group before the end of the year, the latest announcement confirms that her break will continue through December.

In its latest statement, HYBE x Geffen confirmed that Sophia is expected to rejoin KATSEYE in early January 2027.

The agency stated:

"We are happy to share that Sophia will resume group activities with KATSEYE beginning the first week of January 2027."

The company also emphasized that Sophia has continued receiving support and resources while prioritizing her health and well-being.

While her return is now scheduled, the agency made it clear that she will not participate in the North American leg of THE WILDWORLD TOUR or any additional promotional activities during the remainder of 2026.

With Sophia's hiatus extending through the end of the year, KATSEYE will continue its scheduled activities without her participation. The group's remaining five members—Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, and Yoonchae—are expected to carry on with the group's performances during Sophia's absence.
