About

Short bio

Shotaro (쇼타로) is a Japanese singer, dancer, and member of RIIZE. Learn about his age, birthday, height, MBTI, former NCT career, fun facts, and journey from Japan to SM Entertainment.

Background

Born on November 25, 2000, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, Osaki Shotaro grew up surrounded by dance from an early age. His mother was a dancer and enrolled him in dance lessons when he was just five years old. Although he famously cried during his first lesson because the other children seemed far more skilled than him, that early experience sparked a passion that would eventually define his life. He later trained at EXPG Studio Tokyo, one of Japan's most respected dance academies, where he developed the technical precision and stage presence that would become his trademark.

After discovering NCT 127 and becoming fascinated with K-pop, Shotaro submitted an online audition to SM Entertainment in November 2019. He passed and moved to South Korea, learning Korean while preparing for his debut. After only six months of training—one of the shortest trainee periods in SM Entertainment history—he debuted as a member of NCT U in September 2020. On May 24, 2023, SM Entertainment announced that Shotaro and fellow member Sungchan would leave NCT and re-debut in RIIZE. Since RIIZE's debut later that year, Shotaro has established himself as one of the group's defining performers and widely respected dance leaders.
