Yoon Jaehyuk

Yoon Jaehyuk was born on July 23, 2001, in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He grew up with his parents and older brother before eventually entering the entertainment industry as a teenager.

• Jaehyuk was street-cast by YG Entertainment rather than entering the company after years of academy training. His visual appeal initially caught recruiters' attention, but accepting the opportunity meant he suddenly had to develop the singing and dancing skills expected from a YG trainee.

• YG wasn't reportedly the only major entertainment company interested in recruiting him. Pre-debut profiles have linked Jaehyuk with casting approaches from several companies, including SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, CUBE Entertainment, Woollim Entertainment and Pledis Entertainment.

• He had only been training for a relatively short period when he appeared on YG Treasure Box. That made his experience noticeably different from contestants such as Bang Yedam and other trainees who had already spent several years preparing under YG. • Jaehyuk struggled during the early stages of YG Treasure Box, and his lack of experience was openly discussed on the program. Rather than entering as one of its most technically polished contestants, much of his storyline revolved around whether he could improve quickly enough to compete with the more experienced trainees.

• His improvement became one of the defining parts of his survival-show journey. Jaehyuk continued practicing despite criticism and gradually demonstrated enough growth to earn a place in TREASURE, turning his relative inexperience into an important part of his pre-debut story.

• Jaehyuk wasn't originally announced as one of the first seven members of TREASURE. He was selected for the second lineup, MAGNUM, before YG later combined the planned groups into the 12-member TREASURE that officially debuted in 2020.

• He chose a lion as the animal that represents him, and the lion emoji has subsequently become closely associated with Jaehyuk among TREASURE fans.

• Jaehyuk is known as one of TREASURE's particularly affectionate members. He frequently initiates physical affection with the other members, making hugs and casual skinship a noticeable part of his personality in TREASURE's variety and behind-the-scenes content.

• He has described himself as cheerful and playful, which contrasts somewhat with the nervous trainee viewers first encountered during YG Treasure Box. Years of performing have allowed fans to see a considerably more relaxed side of him. • Jaehyuk is especially close with Asahi, and their friendship has become popular enough among fans to earn the pairing nickname "Jaesahi." Their interactions frequently appear in TREASURE's variety content and livestreams.

• He also developed a particularly close friendship with Jeongwoo during their trainee years. Living, practicing and eventually debuting together gave the younger members years of shared experiences before TREASURE became internationally successful. • Jaehyuk enjoys playing games when he has free time, one of several hobbies he shares with other TREASURE members. Gaming has frequently appeared in the group's casual content when the members aren't rehearsing or touring.

• He is interested in sports and particularly enjoys basketball. His athletic interests provide another outlet outside TREASURE's demanding dance practices and performance schedules.

• Jaehyuk has named BIGBANG as an important musical influence, which is especially fitting considering he eventually debuted under the same company and became part of the next generation of YG boy groups.

• His favorite color has frequently been listed as black, matching the simple, darker fashion choices he often gravitates toward offstage.

• Jaehyuk has a habit of saying "I love you" to the TREASURE members, reflecting the openly affectionate personality that fans see in the group's unscripted content.

• He participated in TREASURE's web drama The Mysterious Class, which gave the members an opportunity to act rather than simply appear as themselves. The supernatural school series became one of TREASURE's most ambitious pieces of original variety content.

• Jaehyuk experienced a frightening accident during TREASURE's 2023 Bangkok concert when a stage effect malfunctioned and flames briefly caught his clothing. He quickly moved away from the fire and later reassured worried fans that he was okay, explaining that his hand had received treatment.

• Despite the accident, Jaehyuk returned to the performance, demonstrating the composure he had developed after years of touring and performing live.

• He has expressed an interest in writing and composing music, showing that his ambitions have expanded considerably from the teenager who entered YG with little formal training. Developing his own music would represent another stage in the growth that has defined much of his career.

• Jaehyuk's YG Treasure Box story remains one of the clearest examples of how dramatically a TREASURE member developed during training. Rather than being selected because he was already the strongest singer or dancer, he was initially recognized for his potential and then had to prove that he could turn that potential into actual performance ability.
