Park Jinyoung / Junior

Park Jinyoung tied for first place with Jay B at JYP Entertainment's 2009 open auditions. The two eventually debuted together as JJ Project before becoming members of GOT7.

Before becoming an entertainer, Jinyoung dreamed of becoming a preschool teacher because he enjoyed spending time with young children and reading books to them.

He originally promoted under the stage name "Jr." or "Junior," partly to distinguish himself from JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin Young, who shares his name.

In August 2016, he officially changed his stage name from Junior to Jinyoung, explaining that he wanted to promote using his real name.

He is an avid reader who enjoys novels, essays, and books about philosophy. He has explained that reading helps him improve his vocabulary and express his thoughts more clearly.

His favorite types of books change depending on his mood. When experiencing difficult times, he often turns to essays, while novels appeal to him at other times.

Jinyoung enjoys taking long walks, watching movies, drinking coffee, and spending quiet time alone when he is not working.

He has been nicknamed the "mother of GOT7" by fans because of his responsible personality and tendency to look after the other members.

He has a reputation among GOT7 fans for making playful, old-fashioned jokes, which has also earned him the affectionate nickname "grandpa."

He has contributed to writing and composing several GOT7 songs, including "Thank You," "The End," "I Am Me," "Love You Better," and "Wave."

He participated in writing JJ Project's 2017 song "Tomorrow, Today," which explores uncertainty about the future and the challenges of growing up.

Jinyoung helped create choreography for GOT7's song "Follow Me," demonstrating his interest in dance production as well as performance.

He served as an MC on SBS's Inkigayo alongside BLACKPINK's Jisoo and NCT's Doyoung from February 2017 to February 2018.

He has studied Japanese and English to communicate with international fans and has demonstrated his Japanese-language abilities during GOT7's promotions in Japan.

He has named Justin Timberlake, Usher, and Michael Bublé among the musicians he admires, reflecting his interest in R&B, soul, and jazz.

He enjoys playing the piano and has listed watching theater performances among his hobbies.

He has spoken about enjoying the Korean drama IRIS so much that he purchased its episodes and secretly watched them during school.

During middle school, Jinyoung served as class president and later maintained contact with a teacher who had positively influenced his life.

He once shared that he enjoys the Korean chocolate snack Home Run Ball and likes eating strawberries with melted chocolate.

He has mentioned 2PM and Shinhwa as musical role models, admiring their careers and longevity in the Korean entertainment industry.

Although he debuted as an actor in Dream High 2, Jinyoung initially had little interest in acting. His experience filming the drama inspired him to pursue acting more seriously.

To improve his acting abilities, he began watching films independently, studying performances, and taking acting lessons during breaks from GOT7's activities.

He made his feature-film debut in A Stray Goat (2017), portraying a student who becomes involved with a mysterious girl after transferring schools.

In He Is Psychometric (2019), he played Lee Ahn, a young man who can read memories by touching people or objects. The role was one of his first major opportunities to lead a television drama.

He portrayed the younger version of Yoo Ji Tae's character in When My Love Blooms (2020), appearing in flashback scenes exploring a romance from the characters' university years.

In The Devil Judge (2021), he played Kim Ga On, an idealistic associate judge who questions the motives of a powerful and mysterious senior judge portrayed by Ji Sung.

He starred as Yoo Babi in Yumi's Cells, becoming a central character in the show's second season and gaining attention for his romantic chemistry with Kim Go Eun.

For Christmas Carol (2022), Jinyoung portrayed twin brothers with contrasting personalities. He read the original novel before studying the screenplay to prepare for the demanding dual role.

He has expressed a strong attachment to his identity as a singer, explaining that even while pursuing acting, he never intends to abandon music or performing with GOT7.

Following his military discharge in November 2024, Jinyoung returned to entertainment activities and participated in GOT7's January 2025 comeback, demonstrating his continued commitment to both his group and acting career.
