Asahi

Asahi's full name is Hamada Asahi (浜田朝光), and he was born on August 20, 2001, in Osaka, Japan. He grew up in Japan before eventually moving to South Korea to pursue training and his career with TREASURE.

• Music was already an important creative outlet for Asahi before his debut. Rather than approaching idol life solely through dance and performance training, he was interested in making songs and gradually developed his ability to compose music.

• Asahi joined YG through its Japanese trainee system and represented YG Japan on YG Treasure Box. This connected him with fellow Japanese trainees such as Haruto and Yoshi before all three eventually debuted together in TREASURE.

• He had trained for a relatively short period when YG Treasure Box began. That lack of experience put him at a disadvantage against trainees who had spent years preparing under YG's Korean training system.

• Asahi was eliminated during YG Treasure Box and didn't make the show's first announced TREASURE lineup. His eventual debut therefore wasn't obvious when viewers first watched the survival program.

• YG later brought Asahi back as a member of MAGNUM, the second group created from YG Treasure Box contestants. When YG abandoned the separate-team strategy, Asahi became part of the combined TREASURE lineup.

• Asahi became involved in TREASURE's songwriting remarkably early in the group's career. He co-composed "ORANGE," which appeared during The First Step era only months after TREASURE officially debuted.

• "ORANGE" helped establish Asahi as more than simply one of TREASURE's vocalists. The sentimental track showed that his musical instincts leaned toward melodic, emotional songwriting rather than only the high-energy sound of TREASURE's early title tracks.

• Haruto also contributed lyrics to "ORANGE," making the song an early example of TREASURE's Japanese members participating directly in the group's music. Their creative collaboration later became another dimension of Asahi and Haruto's close friendship.

• Asahi later co-created "THANK YOU," his unit song with Haruto. The track gave both members considerably more space than they normally receive in a full TREASURE song and further established Asahi's interest in composing emotionally driven music.
