Born Choi Seung Cheol on August 8, 1995, in Daegu, South Korea, S.Coups joined Pledis Entertainment in 2009 and spent an impressive six years as a trainee, the longest training period of any SEVENTEEN member. Before SEVENTEEN officially debuted, he was originally expected to debut with NU'EST and later became part of Pledis Entertainment's pre-debut project group Tempest. Although neither opportunity worked out, the experience helped shape him into the dependable leader fans know today.

In addition to leading the entire group, he also serves as the leader of SEVENTEEN's Hip-Hop Team, balancing leadership responsibilities with his work as a rapper, lyricist, and performer. Over the years, he has become known for protecting his members while encouraging them to grow independently. Fans admire S.Coups for being the heart of SEVENTEEN. Although he has a strong, charismatic image on stage, he is often described by both members and fans as someone who quietly carries the weight of the team. His willingness to defend his members, accept responsibility, and put the group first has earned him the affectionate nickname "17's Father."
At the same time, S.Coups has an unexpectedly playful side. He's known for joking around with the members, acting mischievous during variety shows, and switching effortlessly between being a dependable leader and one of the loudest people in the room.
