Born Kwon Soon Young on June 15, 1996, in Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Hoshi developed a passion for performing at a young age. Inspired by SHINee, he dreamed of becoming an idol and eventually joined Pledis Entertainment as a trainee. During those years, he displayed remarkable dedication, commuting nearly four hours every day between Namyangju and Seoul while balancing school and training. His perseverance never went unnoticed—according to his high school homeroom teacher, he was never late despite the exhausting schedule.
Hoshi debuted with SEVENTEEN on May 26, 2015, as the leader of the Performance Team and quickly established himself as one of K-pop's most respected choreographers. He has played a central role in creating much of SEVENTEEN's signature stage identity, choreographing many of the group's performances and helping shape their reputation as one of the industry's strongest performance groups. Beyond SEVENTEEN, Hoshi has expanded his career through BSS (BooSeokSoon), SVT Leaders, HOSHI X WOOZI, and his solo mixtape Spider. In September 2025, he enlisted to complete his mandatory military service.
