About Leo

Background

Lee Ngo-Yin (李傲賢), known professionally as Leo (리오), is a Hong Kong rapper, singer and dancer and the youngest member of the K-pop boy group XODIAC. He was born on June 15, 2002, in Hong Kong and first became interested in K-pop through his older sister, who frequently sang and danced to K-pop songs around him. His interest grew after he began learning dance at school and participated in a graduation performance, where the experience of being onstage inspired him to seriously consider becoming a performer. After graduating from high school, Leo moved to South Korea in 2021 to pursue idol training, despite his family initially hoping that he would continue his education.

Leo was introduced through One Cool Jacso Entertainment's OCJ Newbies project in 2022 before officially debuting with XODIAC on April 25, 2023, with "Throw A Dice." Within the group, he performs as a rapper, vocalist and dancer, while his versatility has also led to activities with XODIAC's vocal-focused subunit X-UNIT alongside Lex, Hyunsik and fellow Hong Kong member Sing. X-UNIT debuted with the mini album To.U in June 2025. After building his career away from home, Leo has spoken openly about the challenges of adapting to Korean language, culture and intensive idol training, making his later opportunities to return to Hong Kong and perform in front of his family particularly meaningful.

Fun facts

    • Leo's full name is Lee Ngo-Yin (李傲賢), and he was born on June 15, 2002, in Hong Kong. He is the youngest member of XODIAC and one of the group's two Hong Kong members alongside Sing.

    • Leo has an older sister who played an important role in introducing him to K-pop. When they were younger, she frequently sang and danced to K-pop around him, which made him curious about the music and eventually helped spark his own interest in performing.

    • His dream of becoming an idol became much more serious after he learned dance at school and performed during a graduation event. Leo remembers stepping onto a real stage and feeling as though he was "shining," an experience that gave him an intense desire to continue performing.

    • Leo's parents initially opposed his decision to become an idol because they wanted him to continue his studies. He nevertheless moved to South Korea after finishing high school and began training in 2021, eventually spending roughly a year and a half preparing before XODIAC's debut.

    • Moving from Hong Kong to Korea wasn't an easy adjustment for him. Leo has said that he had to deal with language barriers, different living habits, cultural differences and demanding singing and dance training, all while living away from his family.

    • When the difficulties of trainee and idol life become overwhelming, Leo often calls his family and friends back home. He says hearing their voices and receiving their encouragement gives him the motivation to continue when he is having a difficult time.

    • There were even times when Leo's parents saw how difficult his career had become and suggested that he return to Hong Kong and stop pursuing it, but Leo felt that after overcoming so many obstacles, giving up would make everything he had already endured feel wasted.

    • One of Leo's most emotional performances happened when XODIAC performed "Heyday" in Hong Kong with his parents in the audience. He spotted his father while dancing and unexpectedly began crying because he wanted so badly to show his family the best version of himself.

    • Despite being confident enough to rap, dance and sing onstage, Leo describes himself as very shy around unfamiliar people. He says he can initially come across as somewhat distant, while friends see a noticeably different side of his personality once he becomes comfortable.

    • Leo admits that he has a habit of overthinking things, and when asked what part of his personality he would most like to change, that tendency was the trait he immediately chose.

    • Gaming is one of Leo's favorite ways to spend his free time. When asked both about his hobbies and what he normally does on a day off, his answer to both questions was simply playing games, so this isn't exactly a once-in-a-while hobby.

    • Fans and people around him often tell Leo that he resembles a cat, which fits particularly well because he also likes cats. One of his nicknames, however, goes in a different feline direction: he has also been called "Baby Lion."

    • Leo's longtime K-pop role model is TXT's Yeonjun. When asked to name the idol who remains an enduring inspiration to him, Leo chose Yeonjun, whose versatility across performance, dance and stage presence closely matches the kind of all-around performer Leo is developing into.

    • His favorite Korean food is ganjang gejang, raw crab marinated in soy sauce, and he likes it enough that when asked what food he could happily eat every day, that was his immediate choice.

    • If Leo could drop everything and go somewhere immediately, he would choose an amusement park. At the opposite end of the excitement scale, the place where he feels most relaxed is simply home.

    • Leo would love to travel with fans, and when asked to invite fans to do something with him, he chose taking a trip together rather than gaming, eating or another everyday activity.

    • During XODIAC's early career, Leo revealed that the members once became so frightened by flickering lights in their dorm that they couldn't sleep alone. Instead, the scared members gathered their things, squeezed into one small room and slept together because they were afraid there might be a ghost.

    • When asked what he wanted to experience in Europe, Leo didn't choose shopping or sightseeing. He specifically wanted to have afternoon tea in the United Kingdom and experience the more relaxed atmosphere, giving him a rather different travel priority from Davin's plan to go busking.

    • Leo is more confident speaking Korean than writing it, which makes sense given that he learned the language while actually living and training in Korea rather than growing up using it academically.

    • After spending years building his career in Korea, returning to Hong Kong as an established XODIAC member has become particularly meaningful to Leo. He has described coming home to see family, friends and local fans as exciting, while also acknowledging that performing in his hometown can make him more emotional.

    • Leo has a cute story behind his double eyelids. He says that when he was younger and chubbier, he had monolids, but after growing older and becoming slimmer, his eyelids naturally became double; he now considers his eyes his favorite facial feature.

    • As part of X-UNIT, Leo has been able to show a more vocal-focused side of himself alongside Lex, Hyunsik and Sing. The unit's music has given the four members opportunities to tackle ballads and softer material that differs from some of XODIAC's more performance-heavy releases.

    • Leo's biggest goal isn't framed around a specific award or individual achievement. When asked what dream he most wants to accomplish, he simply said that he wants XODIAC to rise higher, keeping the focus on the group's success rather than his own.
