Beomsoo

Beomsoo's full name is Kim Beomsoo (김범수), and he was born on September 29, 2000, in Busan, South Korea. He is one of several XODIAC members born in 2000.

XODIAC wasn't Beomsoo's first attempt at debuting as an idol. Before joining his current company, he was a member of CLIMIX Entertainment's pre-debut boy group, where he promoted under the romanized stage name Beomsu before eventually leaving the project.

By the time he debuted with XODIAC, Beomsoo had reportedly spent around four years training, making his 2023 debut the culmination of a fairly long trainee journey rather than his first experience in the idol industry.

Beomsoo joined his current company only one day apart from Gyumin, and the two became close while adjusting to trainee life. He remembers them eating together and talking about their worries during that period.

His introduction to the rest of his future bandmates was surprisingly warm. When Beomsoo first moved into the dorm, the members prepared a welcome party for him and took him out to eat meat, which he later described as one of his most memorable experiences from his training days.

Beomsoo describes his personality as careful or cautious, but he also thinks he can sometimes take that trait a little too far. When asked what he would like to change about himself, he said he would like to be less overly cautious.

Writing lyrics is one of Beomsoo's favorite hobbies, and it isn't something he only does when the group is preparing an album. He has said that even on his days off, he enjoys going to cafés and spending some of that free time working on lyrics.

His creative hobbies aren't limited to music. Beomsoo also enjoys drawing and painting, giving him another artistic outlet when he isn't practicing, performing or writing.

Beomsoo has a soft spot for cats and enjoys feeding them. Fittingly, when asked what animal people often say he resembles, his answer was a cat.

His athletic childhood was surprisingly varied compared with his quieter current hobbies. Beomsoo reportedly played baseball and practiced boxing when he was younger, long before dance became such an important part of his career.

Beomsoo's favorite season is spring, and his favorite flowers include daisies, sunflowers and freesia, which fits rather nicely with his preference for the season when all three are associated with brighter, warmer weather.

His favorite color is purple, while one of his favorite foods is chicken — a considerably less poetic preference than the flowers, but arguably much more useful when deciding what to eat.

Beomsoo can understand English fairly well, although he has said that he isn't as confident when it comes to actually speaking the language himself.

When he's alone, Beomsoo sometimes talks to himself, so apparently he doesn't necessarily need another XODIAC member around to keep a conversation going.

Before going to bed, Beomsoo has a habit of drinking a lot of water, which is one of those oddly specific everyday details that fans probably wouldn't guess from watching him perform.

Beomsoo has named ATEEZ's San as a role model, which makes sense given Beomsoo's own emphasis on dance and performance as part of XODIAC.

He has said that some of the moments that affect him most are when fans make a real effort to see XODIAC. Hearing someone say that they took a day off work just to attend an event or came because they missed the group makes him especially grateful.

When XODIAC became the first K-pop group to participate in four major international magazine shoots before officially debuting, Beomsoo said he felt honored and grateful for the opportunity to wear clothing and accessories from major fashion brands.

Beomsoo helped describe XODIAC's debut song "Throw A Dice" as a hip-hop-based track that mixes colorful rhythms with minimal sounds, and he hoped its sophisticated but energetic sound would give listeners energy.
