Background
Lee Gyehoon (이계훈), professionally known as Kyehoon (계훈), is a South Korean singer, rapper, songwriter and leader of the K-pop boy group KickFlip (킥플립) under JYP Entertainment. He was born on September 16, 2004, in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, South Korea, and later lived in Seoul. Kyehoon developed an interest in performing at a young age and attended DEF Dance Academy before pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. In 2016, he placed first at JYP Entertainment's 12th Open Audition, earning an opportunity to train under the company. He subsequently spent approximately nine years as a trainee, making him one of the longest-serving trainees in JYP's history before his debut. During those years, he trained alongside future members of groups such as Stray Kids and ITZY while developing his skills in singing, rapping, dancing, songwriting and composition.
In 2021, Kyehoon participated in the SBS survival program LOUD, which was created to form new boy groups under JYP Entertainment and P NATION. His performances highlighted his experience, versatility and confidence, and he was ultimately selected for JYP's debut team. However, his official debut would not arrive until January 20, 2025, when he debuted as the oldest member and leader of KickFlip with the mini album Flip it, Kick it! and title track "Mama Said." The seven-member group consists of Kyehoon, Amaru, Donghwa, Juwang, Minje, Keiju and Donghyeon. Named after a skateboarding trick, KickFlip debuted with a playful, rebellious concept emphasizing youthful confidence and individuality. After spending nearly a decade preparing for the stage, Kyehoon finally began his professional idol career at 20 years old.
