Born Kim Min Gyu on April 6, 1997, in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Mingyu was discovered by Pledis Entertainment during his second year of middle school in 2011. After training for approximately four years, he debuted with SEVENTEEN in 2015 as a member of the Hip-Hop Team. Blessed with both striking visuals and natural charisma, Mingyu quickly became recognized as the group's official "face of the group" while also contributing as a rapper and vocalist.
Beyond performing, Mingyu has become known as one of SEVENTEEN's most versatile members. He has directed music videos, designed the group's beloved mascot BongBongie, participated in art exhibitions, and often takes charge of practical responsibilities like cooking, cleaning, and hairstyling.
