Yechan

Yechan grew up in Markham, Ontario, Canada, just outside Toronto. Returning to the Toronto area with 82MAJOR during their North American tour was therefore a homecoming for him.

His English name is Timothy Yoon. During an interview in Toronto, he even introduced himself by saying, "Hi, I'm Timothy."

Yechan is the younger brother of P1Harmony's Keeho.

Music runs heavily in Yechan's family. His mother was a pianist and worked at YG Entertainment, while one of his uncles majored in guitar and another majored in drums.

Because he grew up surrounded by musicians, Yechan has said that he felt naturally drawn toward pursuing music himself.

Before becoming a K-pop idol, Yechan had experience as a basketball player.

His basketball experience directly influenced 82MAJOR's "Choke." When Seongmo began asking him questions about basketball terminology for the lyrics, Yechan realized his own experiences could help and joined him in writing the song.

Yechan specifically tried to capture the tension and confidence he felt while actually playing basketball when writing lyrics for "Choke."

Basketball isn't just part of his past. During the recording of BEAT by 82, Yechan remembered happily talking about sports with the producers while waiting in the studio.

When asked to describe himself using only three words, Yechan chose "Lyric writing, Songwriting, Star."

He is a meat lover and has said that meat is his favorite food.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Yechan doesn't like cucumbers. He has said he'll eat pretty much anything as long as it doesn't contain cucumber.

According to his members, Yechan has always been the funny one. Seokjoon said he was funny even when they first met, while Dogyun described him as very kind.

Yechan apparently can't whistle — or at least usually can't. Dogyun revealed this as a surprising fact about him, although he later caught Yechan successfully whistling once.

Yechan incorporates his personal musical tastes into 82MAJOR's music. While working on "W.T.F." from FEELM, he added jazz elements that he personally loves, and said the narration in the intro was almost entirely freestyle.
