Background
Seo Soojin (서수진), professionally known as Soojin (수진), is a South Korean singer, dancer and former member of the K-pop girl group i-dle, previously known as (G)I-DLE. She was born on March 9, 1998, in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Soojin developed an interest in performing during childhood, studying jazz dance and taekwondo before deciding to pursue a career as a singer. Although her father initially opposed her ambitions, she eventually convinced him to support her decision. Before joining Cube Entertainment, Soojin trained under DN Entertainment and was part of the pre-debut lineup of the girl group VIVIDIVA, where she used the stage name N.Na. However, she left the project before its official debut. She subsequently joined Cube Entertainment and appeared in music videos for fellow trainee Jeon Soyeon's solo songs "Jelly" and "Idle Song." On May 2, 2018, Soojin officially debuted as a member of (G)I-DLE with the mini album I Am and title track "LATATA." She became particularly recognized for her expressive dancing, charismatic stage presence and contrastingly quiet personality.
During her time with (G)I-DLE, Soojin participated in some of the group's most recognizable early releases, including "HANN (Alone)," "Senorita," "Uh-Oh," "LION," "Oh my god," "DUMDi DUMDi" and "HWAA." In February 2021, allegations concerning her behavior during middle school emerged online, leading to a public dispute involving former classmates and actress Seo Shin-ae. Soojin denied the central allegations, but Cube Entertainment suspended her activities in March 2021 and announced her departure from (G)I-DLE on August 14, 2021. Her contract with Cube was subsequently terminated in March 2022. After spending more than two years away from music promotions, Soojin signed with BRD Communications and officially debuted as a solo artist on November 8, 2023, with the mini album AGASSY. She followed it with RIZZ in May 2024 and the single album BADITUDE in August 2025. Her solo career emphasizes the expressive dancing, elegant visuals and contrasting performance styles that originally established her reputation as an idol.
