Background
Yeji was born in Seoul, South Korea, but spent most of her childhood growing up in Jeonju. Her dream of becoming an idol began while she was still in elementary school after her older sister introduced her to the choreography of the Wonder Girls. Inspired by the performances, Yeji enrolled in a local dance academy and began working toward a career in entertainment. She successfully auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2015 by performing TWICE's "Like Ooh-Ahh," beginning roughly three years of training before debut.
