Background
An Yujin's path to becoming one of K-pop's most recognized faces is honestly one of the best origin stories in the industry. Born on September 1, 2003 in Daejeon, South Korea, she spent her early years as a regular kid who was more interested in sports and jump rope competitions than the spotlight. It was actually attending the 2017 Melon Music Awards that changed everything. She watched idols perform live and knew immediately that was what she wanted to do.
She signed with Starship Entertainment in December 2016 while still in 8th grade and hit the ground running. Less than two years into training, she was thrown into the deep end competing on Produce 48 against 96 girls — and ranked 5th. She debuted with the project group IZONE at just 15 years old, already holding her own as lead vocalist and lead dancer. When IZONE disbanded in 2021, she returned to Starship and was named the very first revealed member of a new girl group called IVE. They debuted on December 1, 2021 with ELEVEN and have not slowed down since.
