Short bio
Gaeul (가을) is a South Korean singer, rapper, and main dancer of IVE under Starship Entertainment. Learn about Gaeul's age, Gaeul's birthday, Gaeul's height, Gaeul's MBTI, Gaeul's blood type, her four-year trainee journey, IVE debut, songwriting credits, fun facts, and more.
Background
Born on September 24, 2002, in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, South Korea, Kim Ga-eul grew up with a natural pull toward movement and performance. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a ballerina, and by middle school she had channeled that passion into street and K-pop dance, joining her school's dance club and eventually becoming class president. Her talent caught the attention of scouts early. She was initially approached by JYP Entertainment at a dance competition in Incheon, but her parents weren't ready to say yes. They made her a deal: if she got scouted again at her next competition, they'd give their blessing.
A year later, Starship Entertainment came calling at the very same kind of event, and this time, she accepted. She began training in April 2017 during her third year of middle school, spending four years as one of Starship's most quietly dedicated trainees — balancing late-night practices with her studies and even choreographing her own routines for her school's graduation performance. Unlike groupmates Yujin and Wonyoung, she never appeared on a survival show, remaining a private trainee until she was revealed as the second IVE member on November 4, 2021. IVE debuted on December 1, 2021 with ELEVEN, and the rest is K-pop history.

Why Fans Love Gaeul
Gaeul is IVE's quiet powerhouse: steady, observant, and deeply thoughtful in a group full of bubbly, high-energy personalities. Her members affectionately call her "Sloth" for her love of lying down and moving at her own pace off-stage, and "Grandma" for the warm, reliable big-sister energy she brings to the group dynamic. She's a slow talker with a large vocabulary, the kind of person who takes her time but always says something worth hearing.
Despite being openly scared of bugs and spooked by things that go bump in the night, she devours mystery novels and horror films in her downtime, which fans find endlessly charming and a little hilarious. DIVEs love Gaeul because she feels real: she's not performing enthusiasm, she's just genuinely herself. Whether she's writing rap lyrics for IVE's albums, keeping a personal diary, or going viral for a single devastating line delivery in a song, there's a quiet confidence to her that fans find magnetic and deeply trustworthy.
