Background
Born Park Jisoo on February 1, 1997, Jihyo legally changed her name to Park Jihyo shortly before competing on SIXTEEN, the survival show that formed TWICE. Her journey to becoming an idol began incredibly early. While in the third grade, she placed second in a children's acting contest on Junior Naver, which led to her joining JYP Entertainment as a trainee. Before settling at JYP, she also briefly trained at SM Entertainment for about a year. By the time TWICE debuted, Jihyo had spent more than ten years as a trainee, tying with Nayeon for the longest training period in the group.
After earning her place in TWICE through SIXTEEN, Jihyo wasn't simply appointed leader by the company—the members themselves chose her through an anonymous vote, recognizing her leadership, reliability, and dedication. Since debuting on October 20, 2015, she has become known as one of K-pop's strongest main vocalists while also expanding into songwriting and solo music. In 2023, Jihyo made her solo debut with the mini album ZONE, led by "Killin' Me Good," becoming the second TWICE member to launch a solo career.
