Background
Jiwoo was born on September 7, 2006, in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, South Korea. She grew up with an older brother and developed a love for performing at a young age, studying ballet for six to seven years beginning around age six. Her years of classical dance training helped build the elegance and posture that fans now recognize in her performances. In November 2018, while she was in sixth grade, Jiwoo's life changed unexpectedly when an SM Entertainment scout noticed her at a convenience store while she was recharging her bus card.
After passing her audition by dancing to Red Velvet's "Peek-A-Boo" and singing the Korean national anthem, Jiwoo spent approximately six years and three months training under SM Entertainment. During that time, she trained in the same company that produced legendary groups such as Girls' Generation, Red Velvet, and aespa, even training alongside future Hearts2Hearts member Yuha before either knew they would eventually debut together. In 2025, Jiwoo officially debuted as the leader of Hearts2Hearts, becoming the only member with a confirmed leadership position.
