Background
Stella, born Kim Da Hyun on June 18, 2007, was born in Ulsan, South Korea, as the younger of two children. When she was around four or five years old, her family immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, where she spent much of her childhood growing up bilingual and developing a multicultural perspective. After returning to South Korea, she attended Music Doctor Academy in Busan, where she immersed herself in music while participating in the academy's concert band, jazz band, and even its skiing and snowboarding club.
Stella first dreamed of becoming a K-pop idol after watching Girls' Generation's "Gee" music video, a moment that inspired her to pursue singing professionally. During an in-house audition hosted through Music Doctor Academy, she attracted extraordinary attention, with 32 of the 60 entertainment agencies in attendance expressing interest in signing her. She ultimately joined SM Entertainment in 2023, trained for approximately a year and a half, and debuted with Hearts2Hearts in 2025.
