Background
Born in Marysville, Victoria, Australia, Lily grew up in a multicultural household with an Australian father and Korean mother. When she was around eight years old, her family's home was destroyed during the devastating Black Saturday bushfires, one of the deadliest natural disasters in Australian history. In the aftermath of the tragedy, she turned to music and singing as a way to process the trauma and express emotions that were difficult to put into words.
Lily first gained national attention after competing on K-Pop Star Season 4 in 2014 and 2015. Her powerful rendition of Alicia Keys' If I Ain't Got You impressed both judges and viewers, ultimately leading her to finish in fourth place. Following the competition, she received offers from both YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment before ultimately choosing JYP and signing with the company on May 4, 2015. After an unusually long trainee period of six years and six months, she finally debuted in 2022 as the main vocalist of NMIXX, quickly earning recognition as one of the strongest vocalists of her generation.
